The Franklin Venango Regional Airport will soon be home to a very unique kind of museum. The Venango County Commissioners unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with Vintage Wings Inc. to house a World War II era plane, known as the “Beach City Baby,” at the airport starting this summer.

The plane is a C-53 Skytrooper, a classification of plane that was used to fly soldiers around the world during World War II. It is currently stationed in Ohio, awaiting the fair weather of summer to fly to its new home.

Once in Venango, the vintage aircraft will be renovated to serve as a “flying museum,” according to Commissioner Albert Abramovic, and will be flown to air shows across the county, while staying based in Venango. The plane will house World War II memorabilia, and serve as a mobile classroom.

A cat museum would be more appropriate in this area.
