COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Bruce Baumgartner, the athletic director at Edinboro University, was named president of USA Wrestling, Saturday. 

After concluding its board of directors meeting, USA Wrestling posted a tweet announcing Baumgartner’s new role. 

Baumgartner, who won two Olympic gold medals and three world championships in the sport, was in Colorado Springs for the send-off of the USA Wrestling team, leaving for the Rio Olympics. 

Friday night, Baumgartner lit the cauldron at the wrestler’s training center, as part of the countdown to the Olympics. 

According to flowrestling, Baumgartner has won a total of 13 world and Olympic medals, between 1983 and 1996.
