OIL CITY — With a 3-0 sweep of the homestanding Oil City Oilers on Thursday night, the Maplewood Tigers girls volleyball team earned the 2020 Region 4 Co-Championship. Maplewood earned its 15th straight win by taking the match 25-7, 25-12, 25-7.

Sadie Thomas led the offense with 14 kills, while Chloe Leech added 11 kills. Avery Brunot chipped in six kills, and Bailey Varndell totaled 30 assists. As a team, Maplewood served up 17 aces.

Maplewood (18-2 overall, 11-1 Region 4) will share the Region 4 title with Conneaut Area after the Eagles won their season-finale on Thursday night in four sets at Warren. The Tigers are scheduled to begin their District 10 playoff run in the Class 2A semifinals on Tuesday, where Maplewood will host Sharpsville at 7 p.m. If the Tigers were to advance to the District 10 Class 2A Championship Game, they would face the winner of Corry-Fairview on Thursday, Nov. 5.
